Farny’s next glow tube

Farny started training his glassblowing skills, with the glass tube mounted in his metal lathe. There are many aspects to handle to achieve success when glassblowing. Having the right flame, temperature, and pressure are essential. This experiment from Farny aimed to practice the following:

• Making the stem leak-tight
• Sealing the previously prepared stem into the glass tubes
• Blowing the round end of the glass tube
• Making a tee-joint for the evacuation pipe
• Leak detection
• Pumping and tipping of the tube
